Women and men seeking a more contoured appearance for their cheeks or to create a more defined jawline can benefit from Radiesse injections. Radiesse is unlike other dermal fillers we offer at our Guelph and Burlington dermatology practice, such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane®, because it’s thicker and firmer, and can be placed directly over bone to produce a lifted, fuller appearance.
What Is Radiesse?
Unlike most dermal fillers that use hyaluronic acid (HA) to treat age-related volume loss and smooth wrinkles, Radiesse is made with tiny, smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. CaHA is made up of ions of phosphate and calcium, which occur naturally in the human body.
The injectable gel restores volume but also gradually stimulates collagen production, allowing your skin to make more of its own filler. The hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon in the gel help to create a structure that acts as connective tissue. Because CaHA is naturally found in the body, it’s gradually absorbed, leaving collagen in its place. Treatment results can last for well over a year—even up to 2 years for some people—which is much longer than HA fillers.

What Is Dilute Radiesse?
We often combine Dilute Radiesse with traditional Radiesse injections for patients who want to combine the volumizing results of Radiesse with more pronounced skin rejuvenation offered by Radiesse diluted with saline. We inject diluted Radiesse in harder-to-treat areas, such as upper inner arms, décolletage, and knees.
Combining Radiesse With Other Treatments
Our philosophy at deRMA Skin Institute guides our comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation. Dr. Dusan Sajic developed the 5 Dimension Skin Plan™ for patients at all stages of aging. Aging occurs in different ways, and Radiesse is one treatment tool. Other fillers, microneedling, and laser skin treatments are all potential elements of a treatment plan, depending on the needs of an individual patient.
