How Erbium: YAG Pixel Laser Skin Resurfacing Works?
The Erbium: YAG Pixel works through emission of Erbium YAG 2940 laser energy to treat the surface as well as below the skin’f surface. Doing this enables it to target numerous signs of aging and photodamage as well as actinic keratoses. The controlled wounding and skin ablation of a small percent of your skin stimulates your skin’s natural healing response, stimulating the production of healing molecules and collagen – ultimately producing skin that is smoother, firmer and more radiant.
What To Expect?
To find out if you are a good candidate for the Erbium: YAG Pixel laser treatment, we recommend a consultation with one of our board-certified cosmetic dermatologists at deRMA Skin Institute.
During the procedure, the laser is applied to the treatment area through a micro-optics lens. The laser creates many controlled “micro-injury zones” using a series of tiny laser beams. Patients often describe the procedure as a flicking and warm sensation.
Unlike traditional ablative laser resurfacing, the fractional method only damages certain portions of the skin within the treatment area. Other methods usually remove the entire top layer of skin, which increases a patient’s recovery time.
After the procedure, patients may feel a sensation of tightness and stinging in the treated area that tends to dissipate within a day or two. Minor swelling, redness, or skin flaking (similar to a sunburn) can be expected in the days following the procedure. Generally, most patients are able to resume their work or social activities within 3-5 days, though for some it may take up to 10 days (this is rare).
Results
With repeated Erbium: YAG Pixel treatments, your overall skin health, texture, colour, and glow will improve drastically, achieving a “wow effect.” Because all the effects are achieved through your own skin repairing itself, you come away with the best version of you. Naturally.
Recommended Sessions
3-4 sessions every 4-6 weeks depending on the area(s) being treated.
1 session every 6-12 months to maintain the results and delay Father Time.
Can You Combine Erbium: YAG Pixel Laser Treatments With Other Treatments?
Dr. Sajic and his team at deRMA Skin Institute may recommend combining treatments depending on your skin and anti-aging goals. Erbium: YAG Pixel treats the surface irregularities of the skin and fine lines and wrinkles. As such it does not address the other components of the patented 5 Dimension Skin Plan.
For starters, we may recommend combining it with other energy devices like fractional ECO2 or radiofrequency treatments (vShape, Pixel RF, or RF Microneedling) as these will affect the deeper layers of the skin and target deeper wrinkles, laxity and mild volume loss by producing elastin and even more collagen. In addition pairing these treatments with dermal fillers (JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and BELOTERO BALANCE®, Radiesse or Sculptra), neuromodulators (BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin), non-surgical jaw, neck and face lift (Accutite) can help enhance your skin even further.
For the most dramatic yet minimally invasive results with the added benefit of a healthier looking and functioning skin, we may recommend the patented 5 Dimension Skin Plan (available only at deRMA Skin institute).
