The DyeVL is a next-generation intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment—a hybrid technology that offers the best of pulsed dye laser technology while minimizing the side effects and discomfort. Unlike traditional IPLs, it offers a proprietary IN-Motion™ technology to maximize comfort and prevent bruising. It has excellent efficacy at treating red spots, erythema and redness, veins and brown spots, and skin texture changes.

How Does DyeVL Work?
DyeVL uses Advanced Fluorescence Technology™ (AFT)—a technology developed to benefit the most important person in the treatment room—YOU, the patient. With AFT, every pulse generates a uniform energy density, eliminating the peaks and valleys from traditional IPL machines that can cause pain and adverse events. Furthermore, its proprietary IN-Motion technology further reduces the discomfort and shortens treatment times without sacrificing results.
What Should I Expect?
To find out if you are a good candidate for a DyeVL photofacial treatment, we recommend a consultation with one of our board-certified cosmetic dermatologists at deRMA Skin Institute.
Before the treatment, your skin will be cleansed and cooled. We will place goggles on your eyes to protect them from the bright lights of the treatment. We will then apply a thin layer of ultrasound jelly to help dissipate the energy and the heat.
There is no need for numbing cream as the procedure is very well tolerated and feels like mild heat. For certain areas (like the nose) and based on the severity of your condition, we may need to use the pulse/stamping mode. This may feel like a traditional IPL with a sensation that resembles a flick of a rubber band.
After the treatment, you may have slight redness and swelling generally for 30 to 60 minutes. Rarely, some patients have an allergy to lights that may be uncovered during the treatment. If this is the case, the swelling and redness may persist for a few days. In most cases, this is mild and should not affect your day-to-day function and activities.
Results
With repeated DyeVL treatment your overall skin health, texture, colour, redness, and glow will improve. For the vast majority of patients flushing, acne, and skin sensitivity will also improve.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
3 to 6 sessions every 3 to 6 weeks depending on the process being treated.
1 session every 3 to 6 months to maintain the results are recommended.
Can You Combine DyeVL Laser With Other Treatments?
The most commonly combined treatment is the Long Pulsed ND YAG treatment also known as ClearVein. It is used for visible and thicker ropey veins or for severe disease.
For those looking to explore the treatment of photodamage and age-related skin changes, we may recommend this treatment before or after other energy devices like Erbium YAG with fractional CO2 or radiofrequency treatments (VShape, Pixel, or Morpheus) as these will affect the deeper layers of the skin and target deeper wrinkles, laxity, and mild volume loss by producing elastin and even more collagen.
If your skin is sensitive it may make sense to pre-treat with DyeVL prior to ablative laser treatments as it will make those treatments more comfortable. DyeVL will have no effect on previous or concurrent treatments with dermal fillers (JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, Belotero®, Radiesse® or Sculptra®), neuromodulators (BOTOX Cosmetic®, Dysport®, XEOMIN®), nonsurgical jaw, neck, and facelift (AccuTite®) and can be done before, during, or after these treatments.
